Anthony Alchin - Yeoman of East Malling - 1775 (PROB 11/1009)

In the name of God Amen the eighteenth day of November in the fifteenth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith and so forth and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy four I Anthony Alchin of East Malling in the County of Kent Yeoman being in health of body and of sound and disposing mind and memory (praised be God) Do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner following (that is to say) first and principally I surrender up my soul unto the hands of Almighty God my Creator hoping to be saved by and through the only merit and satisfaction of Jesus Christ my Saviour and Redeemer and my body I commit to the earth to be decently interred and buried by and at the discretion of my Executor herefter named Item I give and devise all my and every my messuages lands tenements hereditaments and real estate whatsoever and wheresoever with their and every of their appurtenances unto my son John alchin his heirs and assigns for ever Item I give and bequaeth unto my two sons Thomas Alchin and Christopher Alchin the sum of twenty pounds a piece of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid to them severally and respectively within three months next after my decease Item I give and bequeath unto my four daughters Deborah Nichols Rachel Stevens Mary Ward and Elizabeth Alchin the sum of twenty pounds a piece of like money to be paid to them severally and respectively within three months next after my decease by my Ezxecutor hereafter named Item as to all the rest residue and remainder of my money and securities for money goods chattels and personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature kind or quality soever the same be not herein before otherwise disposed of after and subject to the payment of my debts legacies and funeral expenses I give and bequeath the same and every part thereof unto my said son John Alchin his Executors and Administrators and I do make constitute and appoint my said son John Alchin sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament and I do hereby revoke all former wills by me made In witness whereof I the said Anthony Alchin have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and seal dated the day and year first above written Anthony Alchin Signed sealed published and declared by the above named Anthony Alchin the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses thereunto Henry Baker Thomas Maynard William Russell

This Will was proved at London the thirty first day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy five before the Worshipful George Harris Doctor of Laws Surrogate of the Right Worshipful Sir George Kay Knight also Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oath of John Alchin the son of the deceased and sole Executor named in the said Will to whom administration of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased was granted having been first sworn duly to administer
