The 1871 census records that the 10 month old infant was living with her widowed mother at 23 High Street, Aylesford. The 1891 census records that Elizabeth was unmarried and she was living with her widowed mother at Albion Row Cottages, Aylesford. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.5.4 ~~ George Field George was born at Aylesford in 1874. The 1891 census records that George was a labourer and he was living with his widowed mother at Albion Row Cottages, Aylesford. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.5.5 ~~ Lily Field Lily was born at Aylesford in 1877. The 1891 census records that Lily was living with her widowed mother at Albion Row Cottages, Aylesford. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.5.6 ~~ Winifred A. Field Winifred was born at Aylesford in 1883. The 1891 census records that the school girl was living with her widowed mother at Albion Row Cottages, Aylesford. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.6 ~~ William Henry Tupper William was born at New Hithe Lane, East Malling in 1843 (Malling 1843 June qtr Volume 5 Page 315). He was baptised at St James' church, East Malling on 30th April 1843. The 1851 census records that the school boy was living with his mother and step-father (Henry Joy) at New Hithe Lane, East Malling. William and his family moved to Aylesford in the 1850's. The 1861 census records that William (incorrectly enumerated as William Joy) was a brickfield's labourer and he was living with his mother and step-father at 4 Albion Row, Aylesford. William married Angelina Anscombe at Aylesford on 23rd February 1863. Angelina was born at Capel in 1843, the daughter of Henry and Mary Anscombe of Aylesford. The ceremony was performed by Rev'd Spencer Phillips and the witnesses were George Squires and Mary Ann Humphries. William and his wife had at least ten children – William (1863), Thomas (1865), Alfred (1866), Eliza (1868), Charles (1870), Emily (1871), Mary (1875), Frederick (1876), Edwin (1878) and Jesse (1881). The 1871 census records that William was employed as a brickfields labourer and he and his pregnant wife and their young but quickly growing family were living at 21 Eccles Cottages, Aylesford. William's wife died aged 38 years in January 1881 (Malling 1881 March qtr Volume 2a Page 339), probably from complications arising from childbirth. Angelina was buried at Aylesford on 15th January 1881, only 5 days after the birth of Jesse. The 1881 census records that William was widowed and his youngest child, 3 month old Jesse, was living with his brother's family. William and seven of his children were still living at 21 Eccles Cottages, Aylesford. Also living with them was his widowed mother Eliza. William was employed as a general labourer. William married for a second time, after the publication of the banns at St James' church, East Malling on 11th, 19th and 26th July 1885. He married Mary Ann Crowhurst at Aylesford on 22nd August 1885. The ceremony was performed by the Curate, Rev'd Paul Pettit and the witnesses were William Harris and Emily Crowhurst. Mary was a widow who was born at East Malling in 1847, the daughter of the late William King. Mary already had at least one child – Gertrude (1880). William and Mary had a further three children – Angelina (1885), Daisy (1887) and Ethel (1889). The 1891 census records that William was employed as a general labourer. He and his wife, six children and step-daughter were living at 21 Eccles Cottages, Aylesford. At the time of the 1901 census William was employed as a general labourer and he and his second family were still living at 21 Eccles Row, Aylesford. Also living with them was 20 year old Jesse Tupper, who had been raised by relatives, and 21 year old Lily Crowhurst who was employed as a cook domestic. William died in 1909 aged 66 years (Malling 1909 June qtr Volume 2a Page 437). 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.6.1 ~~ William Henry Tupper William was born at Burham near Aylesford in 1863. The 1871 census records that the school boy was living with his family at 21 Eccles Cottages, Aylesford. The 1881 census records that William was employed as a general labourer and he was living with his widowed father at 21 Eccles Cottages, Aylesford. William married Charlotte Fanny Crowson at Aylesford on 22nd August 1886 (Malling 1886 September qtr Volume 2a Page 879). The ceremony was performed by the Vicar, Rev'd Cyril Grant and the witnesses were William Harris and Emma Elizabeth Walls. Charlotte was born at West Malling in 1867, the daughter of Robert Crowson, a labourer. William and Charlotte had at least six children – Emily (1886), Ella (1887), Alfred (1890), Florence (1892), Albert (1895) and Annie (1899). The 1891 census records that William was employed as a general labourer and he and wife and their two children were living at 17 Eccles Cottages, Aylesford. The 1901 census records that William was still employed as a general labourer. He and his wife and their two surviving children were living at 17 Belgrave Street, Aylesford. Also living with them was George Burry, a 50 year old barge builder from Aylesford. Charlotte died in 1914 aged only 48 years (Maidstone 1914 March qtr Volume 2a Page 1196). 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.6.1.1 ~~ Emily Emma Tupper Emily was born at Snodland on 5th May 1886. She was baptised at the church of St Peter and St Paul, Aylesford on 12th December 1886. The census of 1891 records that Emily was living with her parents at 17 Eccles Cottages, Aylesford. She is not recorded with the rest of her family in the 1901 census. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.6.1.2 ~~ Ella Elizabeth Tupper Ella was born at Aylesford in about November 1887 (Malling 1887 December qtr Volume 2a Page 617). Ella died at Eccles aged 10 months and she was buried at Aylesford on 4th August 1888 (Malling 1888 September qtr Volume 2a Page 289). 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.6.1.3 ~~ Alfred William Tupper Alfred was born at Aylesford in 1890 (Malling 1890 June qtr Volume 2a Page 6**). The census of 1891 records that Alfred was living with his family at 17 Eccles Cottages, Aylesford. The 1901 census records that the school boy was living with his family at 17 Belgrave Street, Aylesford. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.6.1.4 ~~ Florence Ann Tupper Florence was born at Aylesford in 1893 (Malling 1893 March qtr Volume 2a Page 648). The 1901 census records that she was living with her parents at 17 Belgrave Street, Aylesford. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.6.1.5 ~~ Albert Thomas Cyril Tupper Albert was born at Aylesford in 1895 (Malling 1895 December qtr Volume 2a Page 613). Albert died at Eccles aged about 2 years and he was buried at Aylesford on 20th January 1898 (Malling 1898 March qtr Volume 2a Page 456). 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.6.1.6 ~~ Annie Eleanor Tupper Annie was born at Aylesford in about June 1899 (Malling 1899 June qtr Volume 2a Page 716). Annie died at Eccles aged 10 months and she was buried at Aylesford on 1st April 1900 (Malling 1900 March qtr Volume 2a Page 563). 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.6.2 ~~ Thomas Tupper Thomas was baptised at the church of St Peter and St Paul, Aylesford on 29th January 1865. Thomas died at the age of 11 months and he was buried at Aylesford on 15th November 1865 (Malling 1865 December qtr Volume 2a Page 260). 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.6.3 ~~ Alfred James Tupper Alfred was baptised at the church of St Peter and St Paul, Aylesford on 8th April 1866. The 1871 census records that the school boy was living with his family at 21 Eccles Cottages, Aylesford. The 1881 census records that Alfred was employed as a general labourer and he was living with his widowed father at 21 Eccles Cottages, Aylesford. Alfred was a witness at the wedding of his brother Charles to Hetty Judge in 1890. The 1891 census records that Alfred was a general labourer and he was boarding with John and Ann Benson at 137 London Road, Grays Thurrock in Essex. At the time of his own marriage Alfred was employed as a cooper. Alfred married Seebry Broyd at Aylesford on 2nd July 1892 (Malling 1892 September qtr Volume 2a Page 1027). The witnesses to their wedding were Charles and Hetty Tupper. Seebry was born in 1873 and she was the daughter of George Broyd, a labourer. Alfred and Sebrey had a child who died not long after her father – Sebrey (1895). Alfred died at Eccles in 1895 aged 29 years (Malling 1895 Sept qtr Volume 2a Page 345). He was buried at Aylesford on 11th July 1895. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.6.3.1 ~~ Sebrey Mary Tupper Sebrey was born at Aylesford in about March 1895 (Malling 1895 June qtr Volume 2a Page 652). Sebrey died at Eccles aged only 7 months, her father had died only a couple of months previously. Sebrey was buried at Aylesford on 17th October 1895 (Malling 1895 December qtr Volume 2a Page 342). 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.6.4 ~~ Eliza Ann Tupper Eliza was born at Aylesford in early 1868 (Malling 1868 March qtr Volume 2a Page 499). She was baptised at the church of St Peter and St Paul, Aylesford on 12th January 1868. The 1871 census records that the young girl was living with her family at 21 Eccles Cottages, Aylesford. The 1881 census records that she was living with her widowed father at 21 Eccles Cottages, Aylesford and she was no doubt helping with household duties after the death of her mother. Eliza married William Henry Glover at East Malling on 25th December 1895 (Malling 1895 December qtr Volume 2a Page 1117); he was born at East Malling in 1868 the son of William Alfred Glover a labourer. At the time of their marriage the bride and groom were both living at The Rocks. The ceremony was performed by the Curate, Rev'd Cecil Wild. The witnesses were Fred Russell and Alice Glover. The 1901 census records that William was employed as a gardener's labourer and he and his wife (they had no surviving children at this stage) were living at Pleasant Row, Aylesford Road, Ditton. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.6.5 ~~ Charles Tupper Charles was born at Aylesford in 1870 (Malling 1870 March qtr Volume 2a Page 535). He was baptised at the church of St Peter and St Paul, Aylesford on 10th April 1870. The 1871 census records that the toddler was living with his family at 21 Eccles Cottages, Aylesford. The 1881 census records that he was a school boy and he was living with his maternal grandparents, Henry and Mary Anscombe, at 2 Rowe Place Cottages, Aylesford. Charles married Hetty Judge at Aylesford on 25th December 1890 (Malling 1890 December qtr Volume 2a Page 1053). The witnesses to their wedding were Mary Jane Tree, Alfred Tupper and Edwin Judge. Hetty was born at Aylesford in 1870, the daughter of Edwin Judge, a labourer. The 1891 census records that the newly weds were living at 18 Alma Street, Eccles. Charles was employed as a general labourer. Charles and Hetty had at least five children – William (1891), Kate (1893), Charles (1894), Frederick (1897) and Henry (1901). The 1901 census records that Charles was employed as a chalk labourer. He and his quickly growing family (including their one month old son) were living at 8 Alma Road, Aylesford. The family was still living at the same address when their second son Charles was killed in action at the Battle of Loos in 1915. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.6.5.1 ~~ William Alfred Tupper William was born at Aylesford on 1st October 1891 (Malling 1891 December qtr Volume 2a Page 613) and he was baptised at the church of St Peter and St Paul, Aylesford on 8th November 1891. However the 1901 census records him as William Arthur Tupper and the school boy was living with his parents at 8 Alma Road, Aylesford. William married Naomi Fell of Burham in 1912. The banns were published at Aylesford on 1, 8 and 15th December 1912. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.6.5.2 ~~ Kate Ethel Tupper Kate was born at Aylesford in 1893 (Malling 1893 June qtr Volume 2a Page 625). The 1901 census records that the school girl was living with her parents at 8 Alma Road, Aylesford. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.6.5.3 ~~ Charles Edward Tupper Charles was born at Aylesford in 1894 (Malling 1894 December qtr Volume 2a Page 619). The 1901 census records that Charles was living with his parents at 8 Alma Road, Aylesford. Charles probably had some military experience, possibly in the Territorials, before the outbreak of the First World War. He enlisted in the 6th Battalion, The Buffs (East Kent Regiment) and this unit was part of the 37th Brigade of the 12th Division. Charles held the rank of Private and the regimental number G/389. He was killed in action in the aftermath of the Battle of Loos on Wednesday October 13th, 1915. Like most of those killed at Loos, Charles' body was never recovered. He is commemorated on the Loos Memorial to the Missing. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.6.5.4 ~~ Frederick John Tupper Frederick was born at Aylesford in 1897 (Malling 1897 June qtr Volume 2a Page 630). The 1901 census records that Frederick was living with his parents at 8 Alma Road, Aylesford. Frederick married Mary Smart of Loose in 1919. The banns were published at Aylesford on 30th November and 7th and 14th December 1919. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.6.5.5 ~~ Henry Arthur Tupper Henry was born at Aylesford in 1901 (Malling 1901 March qtr Volume 2a Page 724). At the time of the census of that year he was only 1 month old. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.6.6 ~~ Emily Tupper Emily was born at Aylesford in 1871, some time after the census. The 1881 census records that Emily was a school girl and she was living with her widowed father at 21 Eccles Cottages, Aylesford. The 1891 census records that she was a servant for Walter and Edith Martin at 74 Whittington Road, Edmonton. The 1901 census records that Emily was unmarried and she was employed as a domestic servant at Tunbridge Wells. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.6.7 ~~ Mary Jane Tupper Mary was born at Aylesford in 1875 (Malling 1875 September qtr Volume 2a Page 511). The 1881 census records that Mary was a school girl and she was living with her widowed father at 21 Eccles Cottages, Aylesford. The 1891 census records that Mary was unmarried and she was probably helping her step-mother raise their very large family at 21 Eccles Cottages, Aylesford. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.6.8 ~~ Frederick John Tupper Frederick was born at Aylesford in late 1876 (Malling 1876 December qtr Volume 2a Page 546). He was baptised at the church of St Peter and St Paul, Aylesford on 7th January 1877. The 1881 census records that Frederick was living with his family at 21 Eccles Cottages, Aylesford. The 1891 census records that Frederick was employed as a general labourer and he was living with his family at 21 Eccles Cottages, Aylesford. Frederick married Annie Avis Barden in 1896 (Malling 1896 December qtr Volume 2a Page 1160); she was born at Aylesford in about 1875. Frederick and Annie had at least three children – Daisy (1897), Emily (1899) and Ellen (1900). The 1901 census records that Frederick was employed as a general labourer in the cement works. He and his young family were living at Bell Lane, Burham. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.6.8.1 ~~ Daisy Tupper Daisy was born at Burham in 1897 (Malling 1897 June qtr Volume 2a Page 636). The 1901 census records that she was living with her family at Bell Lane, Burham. Daisy married Ernest Cecil Ward in 1919. The banns were published at Aylesford on 20th and 27th July and 3rd August 1919. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.6.8.2 ~~ Emily Harriett Tupper Emily was born at Burham in 1899 (Malling 1899 March qtr Volume 2a Page 691). The 1901 census records that she was living with her family at Bell Lane, Burham. Emily married Edward Preston of Headley, Hampshire in 1918. The banns were published on 24th November and 1st and 8th December 1918. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.6.8.3 ~~ Ellen Tupper Ellen was born at Burham in 1900 (Malling 1900 June qtr Volume 2a Page 708). The 1901 census records that she was living with her family at Bell Lane, Burham. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.6.9 ~~ Edwin George Tupper Edwin was born at Aylesford on 9th July 1878 (Malling 1878 September qtr Volume 2a Page 556). He was baptised at the church of St Peter and St Paul, Aylesford on 4th August 1878. The 1881 census records that Edwin was living with his family at 21 Eccles Cottages, Aylesford. The 1891 census records that Edwin was a school boy and he was living with his family at 21 Eccles Cottages, Aylesford. Edwin married Elizabeth Apps in 1899 (Malling 1899 June qtr Volume 2a Page 1331); she was born at Thurnham in about 1879. Edwin and Elizabeth had at least two children – George (1899) and Thomas (1904). The 1901 census records that Edwin was a coke and coal heaver. He and his young family were living at Burham. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.6.9.1 ~~ George William Tupper George was born at Burham in 1899 (Malling 1899 September qtr Volume 2a Page 726) and he was still alive at the time of the 1901 census. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.6.9.2 ~~ Thomas John Tupper Thomas was born at Burham in 1904 (Malling 1904 March qtr Volume 2a Page 798). He married Gladys Winifred (her surname is unknown). During World War Two, Thomas enlisted in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He was posted to 816 Squadron as an Aircraftman 2nd Class with service # 1460716. Thomas died on Friday 31st October 1941 aged 37 years. He is buried in St Mary's churchyard, Burham. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.6.10 ~~ Jesse Tupper Jesse was born at Aylesford on 10th January 1881 and it seems likely that his mother died giving birth to him as she was buried 5 days later. Jesse was baptised at the church of St Peter and St Paul, Aylesford on 6th February 1881. At the time of the 1881 census he was only 3 months old. The census records that the infant boy was living with his aunt and uncle (Charles and Elizabeth Tupper) at 3 Coys Cottage, Aylesford. It seems that Jesse was adopted by Charles and Elizabeth because in the 1891 census he is recorded as their son. He was a school boy and he was living with his adopted family at 32 Eccles Cottages, Aylesford. The 1901 census records that Jesse was employed as a general labourer and he was living back with his father and step-mother at 21 Eccles Row, Aylesford. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.6.11 ~~ Angelina Tupper Angelina was born at Aylesford on 11th September 1885 (Malling 1885 December qtr Volume 2a Page 612). She was baptised at the church of St Peter and St Paul, Aylesford on 1st November 1885 and she was named after her father's first wife who died in 1881. At the time of the 1891 census Angelina was a school girl and she was living with her parents at 21 Eccles Cottages, Aylesford. Angelina was living at Aylesford at the time of the 1901 census. She married (possibly to Lewis Balchin) in 1909 (Malling 1909 September qtr Volume 2a Page 1568). 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.6.12 ~~ Daisy Clara Tupper Daisy was born at Aylesford on 28th April 1887 (Malling 1887 June qtr Volume 2a Page 623). She was baptised at the church of St Peter and St Paul, Aylesford on 10th July 1887. At the time of the 1891 census Daisy was living with her parents at 21 Eccles Cottages, Aylesford. Daisy was still living with her family at the same address at the time of the 1901 census. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.6.13 ~~ Ethel J. Tupper Ethel was born at Aylesford in 1889. At the time of the 1891 census Ethel was living with her parents at 21 Eccles Cottages, Aylesford. Ethel was living at Aylesford at the time of the 1901 census. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.7 ~~ James Tupper James was born at New Hithe Lane, East Malling in 1845 (Malling 1845 September qtr Volume 5 Page 336) and he was baptised at St James' church, East Malling on 9th November 1845. The 1851 census records that the school boy was living with his mother and step-father at New Hithe Lane, East Malling. The 1861 census records that James (incorrectly enumerated as James Joy) was a brickfield's labourer and he was living with his mother and step-father at 4 Albion Row, Aylesford. James married Elizabeth Long at Aylesford on 23rd April 1867 (Malling 1867 June qtr Volume 2a Page 657). The ceremony was performed by Rev'd W. Laurance and the witnesses were James and Mary Overton. Elizabeth was born at Wateringbury in about 1848, the daughter of William Long, a labourer. James and Elizabeth had at least eight children – William (1867), Emily (1869), Edith (1871), Alice (1873), Annie (1876), Kate (1878), Frederick (1882) and Ruby (1891). The 1871 census records that James was employed as a brickfields labourer and he and his heavily pregnant wife and their eldest daughter were living at 29 Eccles Cottages, Aylesford. The 1881 census records that James was employed as a labourer and he and his wife and their five children were living at 8 Albion Place, Aylesford. Also living with them was Elizabeth's 35 year old widowed sister, Sarah Stannett. The 1891 census records that James was employed as a labourer in the brickfields. He and his wife and six of their children were living at Albion Row Cottages, Aylesford. The 1901 census records that James was still a brickfields labourer and he and his wife and their two youngest children were living at Albion Row, Aylesford. James died in 1907 aged 61 years (Malling 1907 June qtr Volume 2a Page 417). 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.7.1 ~~ William Thomas Tupper William was baptised at the church of St Peter and St Paul, Aylesford on 1st November 1867. Thomas died aged 6 weeks and he was buried at Aylesford on 6th December 1867. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.7.2 ~~ Emily Jane Tupper Emily was born at Wateringbury and she was baptised at the church of St Peter and St Paul, Aylesford on 28th February 1869. The 1871 census records that the young girl was living with her family at 29 Eccles Cottages, Aylesford. The 1881 census records that Emily was a school girl and she was living with her family at 8 Albion Place, Aylesford. The 1891 census records that Emily was unmarried and she was living with her family at Albion Row Cottages, Aylesford. Was 2 month old Ruby Tupper in fact her daughter and not her sister? Emily married William Samuel John Bailey at Aylesford on 27th June 1891 (Malling 1891 June qtr Volume 2a Page 965). The witnesses to the ceremony were Ada Edith Tupper and George Douglas Longley. William was born at Windsor, Berkshire in 1868, the son of John Bailey, a joiner. At the time of his marriage William was a joiner of Clapham. William and Emily had at least two children – Lionel (1892) and Eric (1897). The parish register records in 1892 that William was a joiner of 10 Bridge Road, Wordsworth and 5 year later he is recorded as a carpenter of Clapham Common. The 1901 census records that William was employed as a joiner and he and his young family were living at 11 Ferndale Road, Croydon. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.7.2.1 ~~ Lionel Keith Hamilton Bailey Lionel was born at Aylesford on 6th November 1892 (Malling 1892 December qtr Volume 2a Page 602). He was baptised at the church of St Peter and St Paul, Aylesford on 25th December 1892. The 1901 census records that the school boy was living with his parents at 11 Ferndale Road, Croydon. 1.3.2.2.2.1.1.7.2.2 ~~ Eric William Bailey Eric was born at Battersea in London in 1897 (Wandsworth 1897 September qtr Volume 1d Page 668). He was baptised at the church of St Peter and St Paul, Aylesford on 28th December 1897. The 1901 census records that Eric was living with his parents at 11 Ferndale Road, Croydon. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.7.3 ~~ Ada Edith Tupper Ada (whose birth was registered as Edith Ada Tupper) was born at Wateringbury in about 1871 (Malling 1871 June qtr Volume 2a Page 483). She was baptised at the church of St Peter and St Paul, Aylesford on 4th May 1871. The 1881 census records that Ada was a school girl and she was living with her family at 8 Albion Place, Aylesford. The 1891 census records that Ada was unmarried and she was living with her family at Albion Row Cottages, Aylesford. Two months later she was a witness at the wedding of her sister Emily to William Bailey. Ada married George James Eldridge in 1898 (Wandsworth 1898 December qtr Volume 1d page 1415); he was born at Battle in Sussex in 1872. George and Ada had at least one child – Godfrey (1899). The 1901 census records that George was employed as a postmaster and he and his family were living at Burwash Square, Burwash. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.7.3.1 ~~ Godfrey George Eldridge Godfrey was born at Burwash in 1899 (Ticehurst 1899 June qtr Volume 2b Page 103). The 1901 census records that Godfrey was living with his parents at Burwash Square. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.7.4 ~~ Alice Maud Tupper Alice was born at Aylesford in about 1873 (Malling 1873 September qtr Volume 2a Page 485). She was baptised at the church of St Peter and St Paul, Aylesford on 14th September 1873. The 1881 census records that Alice was a school girl and she was living with her family at 8 Albion Place, Aylesford. The 1891 census records that Alice was unmarried and she was living with her parents at Albion Row Cottages, Aylesford. The 1881 census records that Annie was a school girl and she was living with her family at 8 Albion Place, Aylesford. The 1891 census records that Annie was a domestic servant for Thomas and Elizabeth Ongley at 143 Union Street, Maidstone. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.7.5 ~~ Kate Tupper Kate was born at Aylesford on 16th March 1878 (Malling 1878 June qtr Volume 2a Page 518). She was baptised at the church of St Peter and St Paul, Aylesford on 12th May 1878. The 1881 census records that Kate was living with her family at 8 Albion Place, Aylesford. The 1891 census records that Kate was a school girl and she was living with her family at Albion Row Cottages, Aylesford. The 1901 census records that Kate was employed as a parlour maid at Oxted. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.7.6 ~~ Frederick Arthur Tupper Frederick was born at Aylesford on 22nd January 1882. He was baptised at the church of St Peter and St Paul, Aylesford on 3rd December 1882. The 1891 census records that the school boy was living with his family at Albion Row Cottages, Aylesford. The 1901 census records that Frederick was a painter and he was living with his parents at Albion Row, Aylesford. 1.3.5.2.2.1.1.7.7 ~~ Ruby Hilda Tupper Ruby was born at Aylesford on 22nd January 1891 (Malling 1891 March qtr Volume 2a Page 661). She was baptised at the church of St Peter and St Paul, Aylesford on 5th April 1891. At the time of the 1891 census the 2 month old infant girl was living with her family at Albion Row Cottages, Aylesford. Ruby was eight years younger than her nearest sibling. Was she really a grand-daughter of James and Elizabeth and not their daughter? The 1901 census records that Ruby was a school girl and she was living with her parents and brother at Albion Row, Aylesford. 1.3.5.2.2.1.2 ~~ Mary Ann Tupper Mary was baptised at St James' church, East Malling on 23rd June 1805. Mary married William Loveland at Wateringbury on 31st January 1831; William was born at an unknown place in about 1796. William and Mary had at least five children – Sarah (1831), William (1833), Eliza (1835), Sabina (1838) and John (1843). The 1851 census records that William was a cordwainer and he and his wife and three of their children were living at St Peters Street, Maidstone. The 1861 census records that William was a boot and shoe maker and he and his wife, two of their children and two grandchildren (Mary J. Loveland born in 1860 and Eliza A. Mead born in 1855, both at Maidstone) were living at 9 Bush Row, Aylesford. Mary died at Aylesford in 1873 aged 68 years and she was buried at Aylesford on 30th November 1873. 1.3.5.2.2.1.2.1 ~~ Sarah Loveland Sarah was born at Larkfield in about 1831 (various census compute her birth between 1828 and 1832) and she was baptised at St James' church, East Malling on 23rd October 1831. Sarah married Henry Mead; he was born at Maidstone in 1827. Henry and Sarah had at least five children – William (1853), Eliza (1855), Henry (1857), James (1859) and John (1862). The 1861 census records that Henry was a smith's labourer and he and his wife and three of their children were living at 2 Smith's Yard, King Street, Maidstone. Henry died before 1871. The 1871 census records that Sarah was a widowed charwoman and she and her four sons were living at 4 King Street, Maidstone. According to the 1881 census Sarah had another child after the death of her husband – Kate (1872). Kate may also have been the natural daughter of Sarah's eldest daughter Eliza. The 1881 census records that Eliza was a charwoman and she and Kate were living at 13 Wyatt Street, Maidstone. To make ends meet Sarah also took in several lodgers. The 1891 census records that Sarah was still a charwoman and she and her daughter were still living at 13 Wyatt Street, Maidstone. 1.3.5.2.2.1.2.1.1 ~~ William Mead William was born at Maidstone in 1853. The 1881 census records that Henry was an unmarried painter and he was visiting Joseph and Louisa Brown at Foley Cottage, Sevenoaks. The 1891 census records that Henry was a house painter. The 1871 census records that the 11 year old was a labourer and he was living with his widowed mother at 4 King Street, Maidstone. James married Kate; she was born at Castlebar in Ireland in 1856. James and Kate had at least five children – William (1878), Sarah (1880), Kate (1884), Alice (1886) and Mabel (1890). The 1881 census records that James was a paper maker and he and his wife and their two young children were living at 6 Gladstone Terrace, Sittingbourne. William married Emma; she was born at Faversham in 1837. William and Emma do not appear to have had any children. The 1881 census records that William was a bricklayer's labourer and he and his wife were living at 55 Arthur Street, Gravesend. The 1891 census records that William was a blacksmith and he and his wife were living at 7 Beresford Road, Northfleet. The 1851 census records that the school girl was living with her family at St Peters Street, Maidstone. Sabina probably had a natural born child – Mary (1860).
